Monastic knowledge

The combination of ingredients is guided by the traditions of monastic knowledge and is based on the ancient, well-kept secrets of the gentle effects of traditional useful plants. Attention has always been paid to the harmonious combination of plants, buds, oils, minerals and vitamins.

At the very back of the Muota valley, one of the most primeval forests in the Alps has survived: the Bödmerenwald, which covers about 550 hectares. Parts of it are primeval forest-like, so they have hardly ever been influenced by man. The climate, geology, flora, vegetation and animal richness of the Bödmeren are unique.

The columnar spruce saplings and buds obtained from the Bödmeren in spring are particularly powerful. This is because the trees, which are up to 500 years old, have an exceptional protein that can only be found in the primeval spruces of the Muotathal. This makes the Muotathal monastery ointment particularly rich in energy and known as a miracle ointment.
